I just sent out an email message to all my Let’s Pretend friends, and hope they all get it and look at this blog. I can’t wait to hear from any of you “Let’s Pretenders” who may have heard my radio show during the Korean War era.

Not much to do here outside on a rainy day, so I thought I’d look around Let’s Pretend and see what’s going on.

I’d love to hear from any of you baby boomers and beyond who may have been a GI brat or know one, and listened to my show 50 or so years ago. Let me hear from you; it would be a treat.

Hi, all you Pretenders: This is Uncle Russ Thompson, host of the 1950′s Armed Forces Radio Services show “Let’s Pretend with Uncle Russ.”

From 1948 to 1952, kids at American military bases all over the world would tune in to “Let’s Pretend with Uncle Russ” on Saturday mornings. The show was presented by the Armed Forces Radio Service and was hosted by me.

I was a Staff Sergeant and was stationed in Hollywood, CA, than at AFRS Sendai, Japan, as program director in 1951 and1952.

Come reminisce with me while we take a trip back to the golden days of radio in our around the world visit to places here, there, and everywhere. All aboard!
