When I was stationed in Japan, I was invited to the home of one of my Japanese fans. Her mother greeted me at the door with the traditional low bow and invited me in to spend some time with the family. This gracious woman presented me with this doll, which she had made herself. More than fifty years later, I still have the doll and it occupies a special place in my home.
